Vadym Pidhoretskyy & Ruby Castro
Vadym was born in Ukraine and began dancing at age nine. He quickly discovered that dance was more than a hobby, developing a passion that motivated him to dedicate himself to training and competition. Growing up in Ukraine, he focused on building his skills and allowing his love for dance to guide his ambitions. A major turning point came in 2018, when he moved to the United States to continue his development and expand his opportunities. After arriving in New York, Vadym began training with Sasha Nissengolts at Dance Passion in Brooklyn and soon entered a successful competitive partnership. His junior career included WBO Under 19 and Under 21 World Championship titles and victories at the German Open and Ohio Star Ball. Vadym continues to pursue his potential through intensive training and competition.
Ruby Castro was born and raised in Miami, Florida, where she began dancing at age five in her parents’ studio, Dance Town. She grew up studying a wide range of styles, including ballet, ballroom, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz, and modern dance. For Ruby, dance has always been a way to express herself through movement, and her parents’ passion for the art strongly influenced her own path. From age six, she trained with teacher Loreta Kriksciukaityte and mentor Ivan Mulyavka, who played important roles in her ballroom development. Before partnering with Vadym, Ruby had already earned United States National Under 14 and Under 16 Latin titles, as well as numerous youth victories. Her diverse training continues to shape her expressive and versatile approach to ballroom.
Vadym and Ruby began dancing together in 2021 after both ended their previous partnerships and were looking for a fresh start. They officially came together in February 2021 and competed together for the first time two months later. Their natural chemistry was immediately apparent, but their shared dedication and love for dance became the foundation of the partnership. Competing primarily in International Latin, they have progressed from Youth Latin victories to Amateur Latin finals, earning finalist and championship results along the way. Vadym and Ruby are committed to developing their individual strengths while continuing to grow as a team. Their ambition is to reach their full potential as dancers and keep pushing their partnership to new heights through hard work, creativity, and a genuine passion for performance.
