Oskar Krimus & Shayna McDonald
Originally from Israel, Oskar grew up in Toronto, Canada playing soccer from a very young age hoping to one day become a professional soccer player, as his father was a professional soccer player himself. When he was 14 years old his mom made him try a dance class (which he had zero interest in) and he ended up liking it, eventually falling in love with the Latin style. Throughout high school he committed to both hobbies until 2019 when he signed a contract to play soccer professionally. Ultimately, he decided to switch career paths to dancing in 2020 after he had a tryout with Shayna.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Shayna started dancing at the age of 3 as she has grown up in a huge dance family and gets to call her parents dance studio (Rogers Dance Center) a second home. She has a background in many styles of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, ballroom, and latin. Although she has been dancing her whole life, she didn’t take her competitive career seriously until the age of 13 and since then she has climbed the ladder in ten-dance with her previous partner in the junior and youth divisions. Since teaming up with Oskar, she has committed to only Latin. Not only is Shayna a dancer but she is also a makeup artist, but during her free time you’ll find her cooking or most likely watching a Harry Potter movie.
Shortly after the pair started dancing together, they noticed their undeniable chemistry and started dating. Since then, they have gotten engaged and are enjoying the wedding planning! They love getting to share their passion of dance with each other as well as spreading their knowledge to aspiring dancers. They even took things up a notch by studying/taking tests for their adjudicator exams with the United States Terpsichore Association before even turning pro to improve their skills and knowledge. They train at Rogers Dance Center with Shayna’s parents, Gary and Diana McDonald.
Oskar and Shayna tend to be crowd favorite as they love to perform and are always giving the audience a show! They are finalists at most competitions in the US and are semi-finalists at all major events. Their goal as a couple is to eventually become National Champions. Some of their most recent achievements include:
• Empire Open Dance Festival Finalists
• Embassy Ball Finalists
• Emerald Ball Runners-up
