Ivan Sovetov & Valeria Mkrtchian
Ivan and Valeria arrived to USA almost 2 years ago. Prior to coming they didn’t dance together in Russia and just start their career as a professional latin couple while in the States. They began as teachers for the Syracuse Fred Astaire Dance Studio, where they met under the watchful eye of Vlad Ivanov. During this short period of time they have already won a National Dance Championship and a few other important competitions. This couple is on fire! Not only do they teach hundreds of classes a week, they also find time to travel nationwide! We recently met them during the Fred Astaire event in Las Vegas, where a sponsorship contract was signed.
Ivan started dance when he was 5 y.o in Saint Petersburg, Russia. During his dancing in Russia he won everything possible and was in almost all finals on Regional, National and International levels. He is:
- Finalist of Russian Championship in Latin and 10 dance programs
- Winner of North-West federal district in Ballroom and Latin programs
- Finalist of Finland Open Championship in Latin program
- Finalist of German Open Championship in 10 dance program
- Master of Sport of Russian Federation
Valeria started dance in Russia when she was also 5 y.o. She fell in love with the dancing from the first practice in a ballroom. Valeria won Russian Championship in Team Competitions across the country. During her dancing career in Russia she was:
- Finalist of Blackpool dance festival in Latin program
- 3rd place of German Open Championship in 10 dances program
- 2nd place of Italian Open Championship in Latin program
- Finalist of Austrian Open Championship in Latin program
- Finalist of Russian Open Championship in Ballroom,Latin and 10 dance programs.

Together they have achieved these Results, but they don't plan on stopping any time soon!
