Francesco Arietta and Jessa Mae Briones
Francesco Arietta and Jessa Mae Jarina Briones started dancing together after a successful try out in 2021. Francesco is originally from Salerno, Italy. His family immediately recognized his competitive drive as soon as he started dancing at the age of eight. He was an Italian medalist in junior 1 and 2, the Italian circuit champion in youth, as well as the silver medalist at the South European Championships. He then moved to Philadelphia, USA in 2015 and not only became successful in his professional dancing career, but also garnered numerous top teacher awards in various competitions and DanceSport series events.
Jessa started ballroom dancing in the Philippines, in 2007, at the age of thirteen. She was a part of an outreach program called “Dancesport Summer Workshop,” through which, Jessa made her way to become one of the members of “Dancesport Team Cebu City.” Since then, Jessa has been competing nationally in 10 Dance, and has won numerous awards. In 2011, she was chosen to be one of the representatives from the Philippines to compete in the USA in such competitions as: Empire State Dancesport Championships in New York, and Nevada Star Ball Dancesport Championship. Jessa placed first in both International Latin and International Ballroom. She was also an over-all champion in Show Dance.
In 2012, Jessa returned to the states to compete professionally, and her most important accolades are as follows: Seventeen-time Professional Rising Star American Rhythm Champion, National and World Fred Astaire Professional Rising Star American Rhythm Champion, and the 2017 United States Professional Rising Star American Rhythm Champion.
Francesco and Jessa may have been brought together initially through their shared love of dance, but it is through their hard work, determination, and passion for dance that keeps them coming back for more. It is not all smooth sailing however, Jessa and Francesco both live and own a studio in their respective hometowns of New York and Philadelphia and must cross state lines to even practice. To overcome their unique situation, they usually practice in the morning and evenings during the weekdays and whomever traveled, must travel back to their studio so that they can make it back to their students in the morning. They also spend their weekends in either state in order to have an entire day of practice. They have worked tirelessly to find the perfect balance of work with their students and work with each other. They have discovered many commonalities not the least of which is their shared love for dance and their appreciation of it as a facet of expression of art and beauty.
Francesco and Jessa have devoted so much of themselves to dance and the impact that they have made on the Open American Rhythm Division is no less than explosive.
