David Nyemchek & Viktoriya Dilay

David was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and comes from a prestigious dancing family. Although dance surrounded him from an early age, he did not begin formal ballroom training until 18. Before entering ballroom, David developed his movement and musicality through hip-hop and pop-and-lock, styles that he continues to incorporate into his American Rhythm dancing today. Growing up around his family’s dance studio gave him a unique understanding of the dance world and eventually led him to pursue it professionally. Reconnecting with Viktoriya in 2020 became an important turning point, first personally and later professionally. After several years together, they decided to become dance partners as well, making their professional debut in December 2023. Outside of dancing, David shares his life with Viktoriya, and the couple are building both their personal and professional future together. 

Viktoriya discovered ballroom dancing at age five in her hometown of Ternopil, Ukraine. After immigrating to the United States, she continued her training at Just Dancing St. Louis, the studio owned by David’s parents. When her family later relocated to Chicago, Viktoriya stepped away from competitive dancing and eventually took a significant break from the sport while earning dual degrees in Cellular Neuroscience and Psychology. Returning to dance and beginning her professional career later than many competitors became a source of motivation, encouraging her to work harder and make the most of every opportunity. After returning to St. Louis for a job in 2020, she reconnected with David, beginning a new chapter in both their personal and dance lives. Today, Viktoriya brings determination, individuality, and genuine passion to their American Rhythm partnership. 

David and Viktoriya have known each other since childhood, with their paths crossing repeatedly over the years. They reconnected in St. Louis in 2020 after Viktoriya returned following college, began dating, and eventually became engaged. After several years together, they decided to extend their partnership to the dance floor. They made their professional debut in December 2023 and quickly established themselves as a rising couple in Professional American Rhythm. Based in St. Louis, they combine David’s background in hip-hop and pop-and-lock with Viktoriya’s classical ballroom foundation to create an individual style rooted in both tradition and innovation. Their goal is to become one of the leading couples in the United States while inspiring others to create their own path. They connect with audiences through authentic emotion, passion, and their genuine connection as partners.
